During my year abroad in Milan, I made the decision to start volunteering as a way to give back to the community and to immerse myself in Italian culture. I wanted to spend my time in a meaningful way while also improving my language skills. As I began volunteering, I learned about the Bocconi Social Impact Certificate, which seemed like a worthwhile goal to work towards.
Durante il mio anno all’esterno a Milano, ho deciso di iniziare a fare volontariato per partecipare alla comunità dove mi trovo e per immergermi nella cultura italiana. Desideravo passare il mio tempo in modo arricchente, migliorando anche il mio modo di parlare. Sono venuta a conoscenza del Bocconi Social Impact Certificate e ho deciso di intraprendere questa occasione significativa.
I chose to work with children because I have always enjoyed being around them and have found it rewarding to help them learn and grow.
Drawing from my past experiences, I knew that working with children would not only be fulfilling but also allow me to share my passion for teaching. For me, volunteering with children doesn’t feel like a chore; it’s a hobby and a fun activity that I genuinely enjoy.
Ho deciso di sperimentarmi in un’attività con i bambini perché è un qualcosa che mi è sempre piaciuto e che mi permette di aiutarli e crescere. Grazie alle mie esperienze passate, sapevo che lavorare con i bambino non solo mi avrebbe dato grandi soddisfazioni, ma mi avrebbe permesso di condividere con loro la mia passione per l’insegnamento. Fare questo volontariato non è un lavoro, bensì un hobby e un’attività divertente che mi fa stare bene.
The experience has exceeded my expectations. Not only have I been able to make a positive impact on the children I work with by sharing my Spanish and English language skills, but I’ve also had the opportunity to meet other volunteers and make new friends. Since starting in October, I’ve felt welcomed and supported by everyone involved in the foundation. Additionally, volunteering has provided me with valuable opportunities to practice my Italian language skills and immerse myself in the local community. As my time in Milan comes to an end, I’m inspired to continue volunteering and giving back to others wherever I go.
L’esperienza ha superato le mie aspettative. Non solo ho avuto un impatto positivo sui bambini che ho incontrato condividendo il mio spagnolo e inglese, ma ho avuto anche l’opportunità di incontrare altri volontari e farmi nuovi amici. Fin da quando ho iniziato, ad ottobre, mi sono sentita supportata da tutti coloro che partecipano alle attività della Fondazione. Non solo, fare questo volontariato mi ha dato l’opportunità di migliorare il mio italiano e immergermi nella cultura locale. Il mio tempo a Milano sta per finire, ma questa occasione mi ha convinto a continuare a fare volontariato dovunque andrò.
